It’s February! This means all things LOVE-related are in the air. As we navigate through this month, we are excited to be doing our annual dating, relationships + sex series: Awkward.
In JH, one of the most potentially awkward and uncomfortable conversations to have is about sex, dating and relationships. Over the next three weeks, we will be having this conversation that can be awkward; but, it’s so important.
Here’s what we know about JH’ers at this phase: Some teenagers may be curious about it while others may be uninterested. Some may be embarrassed while others may be experiencing some of these feelings for the first time. And some may have never thought about sex, dating or relationships before. Our goal is to guide them to lay a foundation for healthy thoughts, habits and behaviors around sex now so that they will have a better framework to make decisions as they grow.
As we jump into this new series, we want all parties involved to feel equipped + properly resourced. We are walking our ANTHEM Tribe Leaders through trainings on how to navigate these conversations as well as providing them with other resources for walking through the various aspects of the topics we are approaching. With that said, we want to prepare YOU (the parent or guardian of the teenager) just as much for the conversations that might come up when the Tribe Leader is not present or available.
Below this post, you will find various resources (Video Teachings, Parent Cue guide, conversation guides, etc.) that will provide direction + insight into this series.
As always, if you ever have questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email ([email protected]).
Thank you for allowing us to partner with you to make an impact in the life of your teenager!
ANTHEM Youth Pastor – I am a husband to my wife Kate, and we have a heart for youth. We’ve served in the church for many years and I became a high school pastor in 2016. After moving to AZ from the Seattle area in 2021, I’ve been so excited to see what God has for us and the youth ministry here in the East Valley!
