ANTHEM Parent Cue – I Have Questions (Words)

This past Sunday, we concluded our five-week series: It’s Personal. Before we jump into our annual Christmas conversation at the end of November, we will be having a standalone conversation this Sunday that centers itself around this question: Do our words really matter?

In text, in conversation, on social media, even in their own thoughts, teenagers are routinely spitting out thousands upon thousands of words on a regular basis. But how many of them do they actually think about before saying? Because we have so much freedom when it comes to our words, so few of us stop to consider the impact the things we say might have on others. That is why in this conversation, we are helping our teenagers think about the potential of their words.

For the teaching portion this weekend, we will be having a panel discussion to discuss the importance of words. Here are the following individuals that will be featured in our HS panel on Sunday night:

  • Dan Pollak (ANTHEM Youth Coordinator)
  • Mya Hotchkiss (High School Senior)
  • Juliet Justice (NXTGEN Event Coordinator)
  • Travis Chavez (former Tribe Leader + MISSION Art Director)
  • Chris Lundberg (former MISSION Board Member + Parent)

Just as we prepare our ANTHEM Tribe Leaders with resources for this conversation, we want to prepare YOU (the parent or guardian of the teenager) just as much for the conversations that might come up when the Tribe Leader is not present or available.

Below this post, you will find various resources (Parent Cue guide, conversation guides, etc.) that will provide direction + insight into this standalone conversation.

As always, if you ever have questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email ([email protected]).

Thank you for allowing us to partner with you to make an impact in the life of your teenager!
