Daddy, Will You Read To Me?

I wanted to share a poem with encouragement for parents to read and declare the Word of God over our children. They feel, see, and learn God’s mercy and grace through our daily examples:

Daddy Will You Read to Me?

She asked me to pray and hold her hand.
I smiled and said yes, and held her sweet hand.
Her fingers wrapped in mine, a bond nothing will ever compare.
As I pray and read, feeling God’s light shine overhead.
His presence fills the room, and peace surrounds our hands.
Daddy will you read another, and then we will say a goodnight verse.
I say okay and read again, knowing that God truly speaks through the mouths of children.
Her words so pure, truth spills out.
The grace and peace watching God’s light shine through.
You shine like gold my beautiful girl,
Jesus loves you.
To see a radiant little girl say out her prayers.
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
How true are those words, no fear will ever take.
Our protector, and shield as we lie down to sleep.
As I read the Psalms to her.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
Now I hold her hand and fervently we pray.
What a Gift from God, I clearly see.
Thank you for allowing me another day.
